Infant Loss Awareness Month

Every year we take the time to remember the families who have lost their baby. In honor of those who have lost a child during pregnancy or in infancy, we dedicate the month of October to them. We celebrate the babies that have passed away by never forgetting and supporting the awareness.

What is Infant Loss Awareness Month?

Infant Loss Awareness Month is a time to honor the lives of babies who were lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth. It is a very special occasion of remembering those who were lost and for supporting the families that are grieving over their loved ones. During October, a special day that sticks out is the 15th. This is an event called The Wave of Light. This is an opportunity for families who have lost their baby, their friends, loved ones, and supporting organizations around the world to light up candles and lights for at least one hour to celebrate the babies that were taken so soon. This takes place at 7 pm local time around the world!

Bereavement Photography

Bereavement photography is photos taken after a stillbirth. These photos help with the healing process for the families that have lost their baby and help treasure the little time they had together. Pictures will help celebrate the love you will always have for your little one. This might not be an ideal thing when it is happening, but once the moment is over you will have photographs that last forever of your beautiful baby.

Piper’s Purpose

Piper’s Purpose is a great example of an organization that is supporting the infant loss community. The owner of the organization, Claire Olson, created it in memory of her daughter, Piper, who she lost too soon. Piper’s Purpose makes packages to donate to hospitals and OBGYN offices, helps family and friends to understand how they can support those whom have lost their baby, and help these families navigate the grieving process. Check out their website for guidance on how to support the pregnancy and infant loss community!
